Vokalensemble 1600 is an acappella Renaissance ensemble formed in 2018 in Munich (Germany). The amateur singers and their conductor Christoph Garbe are dedicated to the accurate and multifaceted performance of polyphonic music composed around the year 1600.
Their repertoire includes motets and masses by Peter Philips, William Byrd, Clément Jannequin and others, combining pieces of famous and lesser known composers mainly of the Renaissance period.
The Vokalensemble 1600 aims to perform several concerts and masses every year, mostly in and near Munich. The members are always keen to collaborate with other musicians and to go on a journey together. In 2019, their first tour abroad has led them to Vienna (Austria), where they were invited to perform at the famous jesuit church.

From 2018 to 2025, Christoph Hauser was the artistic director.
In June 2025, Christoph Garbe took this position and the ensemble is looking forward to the first joint concert on October 26th in Munich.
